I Do Not Need A Psychologist To Help "Figure Me Out"

"I Do Not Need A Psychologist To Help 'Figure Me Out'.
I Need A Wise Old Man,
A Gentle, Skilled Mentor,
A True, Understanding Friend,
To Love Me For Who I Am,
And Teach Me What I Long To Learn."

Our society is so quick to reach for the "professional" services of a psycho-person,
someone we "pay" to be our friend for an hour.

Am I the only person who finds this lamentable?

What I need is a "real" person to "really" love me for who I am,
and like me so much,
they just love to teach me things I long to know.

I know. I know.
I'm thinking about saints and messiahs,
people who don't really exist except in our stories.

well...if I become the person I want to be,
I will be one of those people others can count on,
to always believe in them,
love them for who they are,
and teach them everything I know.

As Naruto would say, "believe it."
